ah yes, how true that all is I don't go to works Christmas parties anymore, as i don't drink for obvious reasons and hate everyone anyway. Christmas is a family time, not for spending with people you only put up with because you get paid to work in the same building as them.

Luckily we're to small for such a mess.
We're still undecided between going out for dinner or having pizza at work for our Christmans/farewell party

Post Sat Dec 16, 2006 8:31 am

I passed on ours last night. Can't stand the people in a work setting, sure can't in a personal setting.

Luckily I work in a small company where this isn't a problem (yet). While out at the local mall, I saw the latest in a series of 'politically correct' Christmas wishes:

"Happy Unwrapping"

I don't go to them any more either. It's bad enough that you have to listen to some crap band, while trying to drown yourself with crap wine, it's the inane conversation with people you'd quite happily drown if the circumstances were different that kills me. I know those in the brown nosing community use them as fantastic excuse to kiss the bosses ar*se, but I'm far to proud to suck up to some money hungry prick who thinks buying an overpriced Audi metamorphoses him into someone with class.

funny that, your boss told me that after last year you were never going to be invited again. I must have misheard him when he said "drunk as a skunk"

Post Sun Dec 17, 2006 6:01 pm

I didn't get invited to MY Faculty's Christmas "do" *sniff*. It was a nice barbecue I believe. Still, my colleagues on the Project didn't get invited either... or so they say.

A few weeks ago I went to a friends work year end party...
It was on a wine/gholdf estate...beautiful scenery and the band that opened was quite good with jazz music the rest of the evening.

Quite enjoyable actually.

I'd certainly invite you to my bbq - in fact, you'd be the guest of honour! Your name would be at the very top of the menu erm I mean invitation of course.

you wouldn't enjoy Christmas parties anyway - you don't hold with Xmas, you only drink GB, and you never leave your burrow after dark. Sort of limits your social options, all that.

Post Mon Dec 18, 2006 10:44 am

Lancers Reactor should have a xmas party...although not at a grill house..how bout a cocktail drink only..oh wait no alcohol, so water yea...

I'm on this case: BACHING STYLE

I'll have you know that I wasn't at last years either or the two years prior to that one. However the one prior to that I do slightly recall being "drunk as a skunk".

*Aside to Indy* See? I told you that I could give Taw an avenue of attack that he could not resist. You owe me 400 Esquilaxistani Dinars. *To Taw* Ahem. While I am flattered by your most gracious invitation, I'm afraid that I must decline. I do not eat rabbit, nor do I consort with evil ex-Mullahs, however I could provide you with a rabbit-substitute made from tofu. It's quite good from all accounts.

As for my social life, bah! Who needs one? And in any case, GB is a very social drink and is served at many pubs/clubs/hotels/locales. If it is not, GA can be a reasonable substitute, and can be used to encourage conversation. E.g.;
Patron - "What you drinkin' there?"
Me - "Ginger Ale."
Patron - "What Ale?"
Me - "Which Ale. I'm drinking GINGER Ale."
Patron - "Why don't you have a beer like everyone else?
Me - "I'm a tea-totaller."
Patron - "What's that mean?"
Me - "I don't drink alcohol."
*Pause*
Patron - "Get away from me."
See? Drinking GB/GA is a very social activity. Of course, the Rabbit-King cannot be seen in such "dives" and therefore does not freqeuent such places, so the above is an approximation based upon similar conversations at Christmas functions, etc. (See? We're still discussing Christmas here!)

i have those coversation too, except they go like this..

Kufr: having a drink, mate?"
Me: yes please, I'll have mineral water or lemonade, thank you.
Kufr: wot, no alcohol?
Me: I don't drink alcohol
Kufr: wot's up, you a Muslim or summat?
Me: yes I am actually. got a problem with that, infidel dog? blimey this jacket's a bit bulky, think i'd better take it off or I won't be able to vault over this turnstile....

Post Mon Dec 18, 2006 4:06 pm

Yeah, yeah Muslim, no alcohol, we know . Of course, you still need a "fix" these days, so instead of drinking you just smoke like one o' them fings wot Santy done shimmy down on Krismass Noight. Why don't you switch to sum o' them herbal "ciggies" that them Chinese fellas done use? Or better yet, make your own! Throw some dried peppermint and sage into a wrapper, light it and give it a try! What could go wrong?
