Dp''s with a custom SUR

My turn with a problem

I've got Destructables to work with the SUR Exporter, but my problems with the 3db files.
If I point the SIMPLE to the CMP then the mesh after the Dp dissappears on destruction and the game continues, but if I point it at my custom damage 3db the game crashes or freezes. They were done using the 3db Exporter and after compairing them with a vanilla 3db with UTF-Edit I can't see any real difference in their construction.

Any help with figuring this out would be appreciated as I've nearly got this thing licked.

**BIG EDIT** Damn it. I'm not as good as I thought I got it to work twice but now all I get are CTD's, even using the same models that worked.

Either everybody's busy as hell and haven't been able to visit the site or I'm flying solo in uncharted space here.

Colins SUR Exporter can give you destructables and here's some pictures to show what I mean.
Going for a little fly
Bugger where's my engine
Crap thats torn it, I'm stranded
Please no comments on the ship as yes its crap with poor textures but it's low poly and I'm not about to fix up a ship just to be a tester.

The problem isn't getting the parts to blow off, its replacing them with the damage mesh that the problem, CTD every bloody time. When the SIMPLE's are pointed at the ship CMP I get the results in the pictures, bits blow-off quite easily but because there's no damage mesh in the CMP there's nothing to attach to the Dp hardpoint. When I point them at a damage mesh vanilla or custom it's the same thing CTD at the mesh switch. Anybody any idea's as to what could be causing this as it's starting to piss me off.

Now this is interesting.

In fact, I have exported a ship with destructable wings, engines etc. but I have to decide between "parts can be blown off but only the root group registers hits correctly" and "perfectly working SUR without destructable parts". This works bei either rescaling the SUR with FLModelTool or not doing so.

If you have found a way to combine both and make a working SUR with destructable components, maybe we can solve your problem together.

My first thought would be your simple entries are somehow screwed up in respect to the connect hardpoint you are referring to. I don't know if you have given your 3dbs connect hardpoints. If they were missing, Freelancer would not know where to put the 3db.
Just arbitrary assumptions. If that doesn't do it, why don't you post your entries for the destructables here?

The damage meshes aren't the problem MG as they work on vanilla ships, they just look weird, I can't even get a vaniila damage mesh to work on my ship, so there is definately something fouling it up. I'm going to try resizing a vanilla SUR to match my ship and see if I can get them to work with it, failing that I'll have to get sneaky with the ship mesh.
