CTD when destroying a ship

I was testing a new ship, using new weapons in front of Manhattan and engaged in a fight against some police ships there. It worked smoothly up to the point where one of the police vessels (they were flying unmodified Patriots) was supposed to explode. Instead, the game crashed to desktop.

Now, it could either be the new ship I was flying or the new weapons I was using, that triggered the error. However, the weapons have already been tested in multiplayer with a few other guys from my team and I don't see how the new ship is supposed to cause an error like this. And as I already said, the ships I was shooting at were totally unmodified.

At one point, I also got these FLSpew errors:

E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\Space\HUD_Targetable_Objects.cpp(2478) : *** WARNING: Used Hostile Pick Assistance!
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\Space\HUD_Targetable_Objects.cpp(2478) : *** WARNING: Used Hostile Pick Assistance!
E:\FL\Scratch\Source\Client\Space\HUD_Targetable_Objects.cpp(2478) : *** WARNING: Used Hostile Pick Assistance!

But these occured only once and when I gave it another test, there was no error at all in the log.

Anybody got an idea?

EDIT: I've now equipped my ship with original weapons and shot down about 6 or 7 police Patriots, before the game crashed whilst I was shooting down another one. And the script shows up the error I posten above 7 times. It seems as if every kill I make with the new ship creates such an error.

Well have you did any editing with New York?

No, I didn't. Except of the ship, everything is vanilla FL.

But I have noticed something: It seems that every time a piece of debris from a shot down ship (like the wing, having broke from the ship in the explosion) is about to collide with my ship, it crashes. I am not entirely certain of this, however it would explain why the crashes seem so random.

I have also got an idea of why this could be: I have exported the ship's CMP with multiple parts, which later are supposed to be destroyable. I also have set hardpoints to these parts. What I didn't do is setting up the appropiate entries in shiparch.ini. It seems like this can becone a problem.

I will try creating these entries and then test it again.

Okay, creating shiparch.ini entries for the destructable components didn't solve the problem. However, I now only get two of the "used hostile pick assistance" lines, but I have shot down at least 12 or so police ships during my test.

However, the game again crashed when some patriot was about to explode. I have no further explanation of why this may be.

The problem is being caused by the "fuses."
I discovered this while doing Wing Commander FL.
Open Data\FX\Fuses.ini
The first section calls for the destruction of groups.
(Under Death Comm)
Remove all of the [destroy_group sections to stop that error.
You may have to rework the other fuses (in fuses.ini) that are listed for that ship (in shiparch.ini and solararch.ini)
I had to rework all of them, and created a few new ones for the new ships.
Download Wing Commander FL v2.6 to see.
